Undergraduate and Graduate Programs in the Department of Physics and AstronomyThe University of Louisville Department of Physics & Astronomy offers Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Arts degrees in Physics & Astronomy, and a Bachelor of Science in Atmospheric Science through the College of Arts and Sciences. Students may also obtain a Minor in Physics. The Bachelor of Science Physics & Astronomy degree involves a concentration in either applied optics, astronomy and astrophysics, computational physics, materials science, or a professional track. The Bachelor of Science in Atmospheric Science has physics and atmospheric science core courses. The Doctor of Philosophy and Master of Science degrees in Physics and Astronomy are offered through the School of Interdisciplinary and Graduate Studies. Access is also provided to a study of Chemical Physics through a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the Department of Chemistry, to a Mathematical Physics Ph.D. track with the Department of Mathematics, and to a joint doctoral program with the University of Kentucky Department of Physics & Astronomy.
